约克郡也开始对冰雨停电的家庭发礼品卡啦

上礼拜是多伦多的给停电的家庭发礼品卡，据说很多同学排队很久的也没有领到，还有开宝马去领卡的。我本来都不抱希望了的。这礼拜轮到约克郡了。还是咱们约克郡好，不用排队，只要打电话就可以，而且卡还给你寄到家的。

More than 7,000 households in York Region lost power for more than 48 hours.

The Ontario government extended its one-time grocery card program to some communities outside of Toronto, including York Region, on a limited basis.

Starting on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, affected York Region residents will be able to call the Access York Contact Centre to determine their eligibility and to request a grocery card. A very limited amount of grocery cards are available.

You are eligible for help replacing spoiled food if you were without power for more than 48 hours and face financial hardship to help you replace this loss. Grocery cards are only available while supplies last.

To inquire about a gift card:

Call the Access York Contact Centre at 1-888-256-1112, TTY: 905-762-0401.

Be prepared to answer some questions to determine your eligibility and to indicate how many people are in your household.

The grocery cards will be mailed to eligible York Region residents within two weeks. The cards will not be available in-person.

Eligible families can receive one $100 grocery card per household or eligible individuals can receive one $50 grocery card per person.

York Region anticipates a high demand for the grocery cards and thanks residents for their patience during this process.

早上一边早饭一边打电话，拨完1-888-256-1112后，拨1，然后大概10分钟后就接通了，问了一下你停电的天数，我回答是4天（从周六晚上到周三早上），姓名，地址，问地址的时候还问了是house还是apartment。我说是house.她在等电脑里的信息核对等了很久后，并问你是否的确没有钱补偿冰箱里损坏的食物，我回答说是的，因为我家是low income 家庭，而且还在领取托儿津贴。最后说经核实，你符合申领的条件，gift card会在2周内寄送到你家，他们不对丢失偷窃等负责，遗失不补。卡是metro或者foodbasic的。

我估计她在系统里应该是核对了停电的区域，其他估计也核对不了什么，是否你能负担得起食物那些都是根据”信任制度“，就是政府相信每个居民。关于家庭收入也没有明确的说要小于多少的才符合申请条件，看下面的加拿大家庭平均税后收入，很多福利的申请是把家庭收入36,000作为贫困线。一般夫妻两都有工作的话，也就脱贫了。个人觉得家庭收入超过平均值的就别申请gift card了，留着机会给更需要的家庭。

看来还是约克郡的好，否则这么冷的天，排队2小时领一张卡，也是很辛苦的事情。不过虽然是电话申请，一开始的提示那里也是说的，数量有限的，并不是说你家停电就一定能领到卡。我估计停电时间短的肯定没有，

下午一点多的时候，有同学打电话去卡已经发光了。看来什么事都是趁早不宜迟。

今天收到邮寄来的食品卡了。两张，每张$50, 可以在Metro和foodbasic用。觉得真是温暖。一个家庭补偿$100足够了。我们坏了扔掉的食物肯定没有$100这么多的。幸亏冻雨前两天忙着聚会的事情，也没有怎么买菜，不然坏的就更多了。
