DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
REPORTS TO:VICE-PRESIDENT AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER
The Director of Finance is the lead finance position in the Office of the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) and acts as a strong contributor to the financial integrity of the Accolade Group of Companies (the “Company”) by fulfilling the following major accountabilities:
1.Finance and Accounting;
5.Statutory and Regulatory Reporting; and
6.Financial and Management Systems.
1.Finance and Accounting:
a)Ensure that the integrity of the Company’s accounting, financial, and management reporting systems is always maintained and sufficient to meet current and short-term requirements.
b)Prepare timely and accurate Company financial reporting.
c)Ensure adherence to current and appropriate accounting principles in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”) and established accounting policies within the Company and all of its subsidiaries.
d)Ensure that all supporting financial documentation is appropriately approved prior to acting on the various accounting activities.
e)Carry out broad-based analysis of financial information to meet Company objectives.
f)Ensure adherence and compliance with Company financial policies and procedures.
g)Identify key financial issues and prepare recommendations for their resolution.
h)Manage the accounting and financial systems which track and support the Company’s Inventory.
i)Manage the Accounts Receivable function to ensure that all customers have paid in a timely manner and facilitate the resolution of all disputed items.
j)Manage the Accounts Payable function to ensure that all vendors are paid in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with Company policy.
k)Ensure that appropriate accounting controls are maintained over all Company Fixed Assets.
l)In collaboration with the CFO, develops an approach to costing for improving Contribution and Gross Margin and overall profitability.
a)Facilitate the creation and preparation of the annual Operating Plan and Budget in a timely manner such that the operating Divisions and their Departments have all of the appropriate information to guide their financial goals and objectives prior to the start of the fiscal year.
b)Provide insightful business partnering and financial support for the Company operating Divisions and Departments.
c)Provide on-going balanced measurement and analysis against of the attainment of the Company’s current year Budget, Forecasts and other operating activities.
d)Ensure the compilation, comparison and reporting of overall Company financial results against the fiscal budget and appropriate financial performance indicators.
e)Provide financial analyses of business activities and makes recommendations to enhance processes which identify trends or variations which could impact management priorities or strategies.
f)Develop financial models and predictive systems to ensure the Company’s objectives reflect current and future business conditions and more specifically all cash flow requirements.
g)In collaboration with the CFO, assist in the implementation of the annual budgeting process to meet the Company’s long-term goals and objectives.
a)Ensure that the accuracy and timely preparation of the Company bi-weekly payroll is maintained.
b)Ensure that all Company employee and employer withholding taxes and health-care remittances are current and have been reported to the Board of Directors.
Lead and direct the definition, documentation and implementation of internal control policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy and consistency of financial information generated at all levels within the Company.
These control systems specifically relate to the key/significant operational areas, including:
ii.purchases, payables, payments;
iii.fixed asset management;
iv.project accounting; and
v.accounting information integrity.
Ensure an ongoing review of control systems and actively take the lead in making recommendations for the changing nature of business operations.
5.Statutory And Regulatory Reporting:
a)Lead and direct the development, coordination and execution of the Company’s annual external audit review engagement or alternatively a full audit, including audit plan preparation, working paper requirements and fee negotiations.
a)Assess and evaluate the overall accounting, finance and management information enterprise system requirements.
b)Make recommendations where required to improve the accounting, finance and management information systems and processes within the Company.
c)Work with Company management to ensure that the accounting, finance and management information systems provide useful and meaningful information on which to make operating and strategic decisions.
Manage, lead and develop a team of finance professionals through the exercise of collegial interpersonal and communication skills.
The Director of Finance has the following direct reports:
1.Manager of Accounting.
INTERNAL CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Ensure that all Finance Department members provide timely accounting, financial and management reports and proactively analyze results, thereby providing insight and recommendations to the Company and its management team.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
Five to seven years Finance Director experience, preferably in a clothing manufacturing environment.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
