Community Health Centers (CHCs) are non-profit organizations that provide primary health care for individuals, families and communities.
In addition to providing clinical treatment, CHCs may have:
* Culturally-sensitive care in different languages
* Anti-racism programs
* Sexual health education
* Domestic violence prevention and treatment
* Parenting education
* Support for teenage mothers
* Drop-in programs for youth
Some CHCs offer integrated health care, language and settlement programs specifically for immigrants and refugees.

有了CHC是否就意味着不需要买旅游险了呢？
不是，因为CHC不会管你的药费，也不会管你住院的费用等等。而且即便是看病，通常需要提前2周预约，而且有些病会让你还是去看Clinic的。因为CHC并不会像Clinic那样可以诊断的。
CHC 比较常做的就是打预防针，给新生儿称重及养育咨询等等。

“CHCs offer free routine immunizations (booked appointments so limited number per week), they do weigh new babies and consult with parents in weekly sessions (eg breastfeeding, developmental questions, etc), new baby visits are made by nurses as required, Youth drop-in clinics weekly, Seniors blood pressure clinics, etc. These services are limited by the number of staff and length of clinic - approximately 2 hours per week. Many Health Centres are cutting programmes in order to balance their budgets. So you can see, while CHCs offer good services, they are not intended to be used as emergency services. You would still be referred to a walk-in medical clinic. ”
“ the system isn't built as an optional health provider. They are an adjunct to the medical system, providing routine services cheaper than a doctor's office, but they are not diagnostic. Clients with assessed problems would be referred to a medical clinic. ”
Services at CHCs are free. All services are confidential, and some, such as tests for pregnancy and HIV/AIDS, may be anonymous. While you are waiting for OHIP to cover you, or if you don't have OHIP, you can buy insurance. You can also look for free and low-cost health services at a Community Health Centre. Private Health Insurance Some insurance companies sell packages that will cover your health costs during this 3-month period. These insurance plans are designed for people who do not have OHIP.
