We are pleased to announce that registration for the Summer 2017 Engineering Outreach elementary programs will open on Friday, April 7th at 7:00am.
Course information and registration links can be found on our website home page and each of the program specific pages.
Please note that the registration link will not appear or be active until Friday, April 7th at 7:00am.
In this email you’ll find information on the following programs:
- Girls’ Jr. DEEP (for female students in grades 3 to 8)
- ENGage (for students in grades 3 to 8)
- Jr. DEEP (for students in grades 3 to 8)
- Jr. DEEP Math Camp (for students in grades 3 to 8)
- Jr. DEEP Coding Camp (for students in grades 3 to 8)
- Jr. DEEP Robotics (for students in grades 7 to 8)

Please note that the courses are according to the grade the student just recently completed. For example, if your child is currently in grade 6 this school year, they need to be registered in courses marked Grades 5/6. They cannot sign up for the courses marked Grades 7/8.
Course Information
Girls' Jr. DEEP
Girls with an interest in science and engineering will thrive in Girls’ Jr. DEEP! This one-week course will inspire students to tackle fun and fascinating activities and challenges. Participants will conduct experiments, work on engineering design projects and collaborate in an all-girls environment, taught by some of the most amazing female engineering students at UofT!

ENGage
ENGage participants take part in a range of hands-on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) activities. Students also develop their athletic and leadership skills. A collaboration between U of T’s Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers and the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, ENGage highlights black role models, encourages STEM literacy and promotes academic and social growth.

Jr. DEEP and Jr. DEEP Coding Camp
Modelled after our Da Vinci Engineering Enrichment Program (DEEP) Summer Academy for high school students, Jr. DEEP offers courses on cutting-edge topics in science, technology and engineering, with an emphasis on hands-on learning.

Jr. DEEP Math Camp
Jr. DEEP Math Camp is a 4 day adventure in math that offers fun and interactive hands-on activities that are designed to focus on the applications of mathematics in science and engineering. The Jr. DEEP Math Camp strives to deliver concepts from the math curriculum in a fun and engaging manner that allows students to apply their skills to real-world problems. Whether you’re looking to learn more math, or wanting more of a challenge, the Jr. DEEP Math Camp has something for everyone!
Please note that if you attended the Grade 5/6 Math Camp during March Break 2017, this course will offer similar content.

Jr. DEEP Robotics
Students learn the principles behind the modern mechatronics which are found in everything from the Mars Rover to self-driving cars. Using the Lego Mindstorm platform, students will be introduced to programming concepts such as loops and conditional statements in an intuitive graphical manner. Text based Mindstorm programming will further expand on these concepts, and connect the programming to the physical hardware. By the end of the course, students will have built and programmed a custom autonomous rover of their own which can follow a line, and avoid obstacles!

Wait List
If you see that a course is wait listed, that means there are no available spaces. If a space opens up in the course, those on the wait list will be notified immediately in the order that they registered
Creating an Active Account
If this is your first time registering for one of our programs, you will be prompted to create an Active account. The account making process happens after registration. If you are successful in getting a spot in the course, you spot will be held for you as you create your account. There is no need to rush this process.
There is no way to create an account before the registration date.
Bursary
If the fees for this program create a financial barrier, please consider applying for an Engineering Outreach Bursary. You are eligible to apply if you are a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or protected person with demonstrated financial need. If you would like to apply for a bursary, please contact our office prior to registration for your next steps.

Cancellation Policy
Any cancellations made between the time of registration and 2 weeks before the start of the program are eligible for a refund minus $50 administrative fee.
Any cancellations made within 2 weeks of the start of the program are not eligible for a refund.
